Fundamentals of Government Decision Making
The first part of this module lays the groundwork by providing participants with an understanding of the laws and principles which govern the making of administrative (i.e. government) decisions. It ensures every team member has a solid base to build from as they learn and improve their skills in the modules that follow.

Current Regulatory Landscape
The second part of this module helps participants navigate the ever-changing regulatory environment by providing insights into current issues and trends affecting their areas of responsibility. Concerned about applying legislation such as the Human Rights Act or the Native Title Act? This is the module where we can discuss these, and other issues which affect your team’s work on a daily basis.

Module 2 focuses on taking what was learned in Module 1 and applying it to your team’s every-day reality.

Decoding Legislative Structures
This part of the module provides participants with customised workshops that delve into the specific legislative provisions impacting their roles. We discuss and explore how the rules surrounding administrative decision-making impact on the provisions of that legislation (including by reference to practical examples).

Group Exercise and Workshop
Here we engage in targeted group exercises that address current and potential issues within your team’s regulatory domain. Practice applying your skills and foster effective teamwork to tackle challenges collectively. Participate in larger group feedback sessions which provides opportunities to learn and grow from your own and others’ experiences.

Module 3 is tailored for staff with heightened decision-making or supervisory responsibilities. It focuses on precision in making and communicating decisions, as well as how to promote a culture of excellence within your teams.

When the Devil is in the Detail
Participants are given the opportunity to navigate complex scenarios including, for example, deciding internal reviews, managing compliance processes, learning how to provide effective instructions to lawyers, and getting the most out of legal advice.

Individual Exercise and Feedback Session
Participants are provided with the opportunity to engage in customised individual exercises, followed by a confidential one-on-one feedback session to refine individual skills and concepts, ensuring personalised growth.

An optional, but recommended, part of every tailored training package is our Consolidated Issues and Feedback Report.

As the name suggests, this provides senior leaders with a report that consolidates the issues and feedback that has arisen during their team’s interactive learning experiences. Our report identifies and analyses potential issues raised by those ‘at the coal face’. Issues are ranked by ease of resolution and an options analysis is provided for each issue. This way you can easily get started with the ‘low hanging fruit’ and more quickly make meaningful and positive change.

As with all our reporting, you will always have an opportunity to engage and collaborate with us before our report is finalised.

We recognise that some decisions have far reaching consequences and that the reasoning involved (and how it is communicated) can be as important as the decision itself. We have found equipping people with the tools they need ahead of time nearly always results in better and more defensible decisions (and less stress when the pressure is on!)
